(EN) We have three chest freezers with us. Two are for ice-core samples and the other is for frozen food. Many people may not easily understand the need of freezers in Antarctica, but it is a necessity. Due to strong sunshine, frozen food in cardboard boxes can melt easily during the daytime in the coastal area of Antarctica. However, this is not the case in the inland.
